      Thursday Quotables! (#1)

Hello, everyone! Welcome to Thursday Quotables! This weekly feature is hosted by Bookshelf Fantasies. Every week we highlight a great quote, line, or passage discovered during your reading each week.

This week I am reading The Martian by Any Weir. Im going to share a funny quote from there!

“He’s stuck out there. He thinks he’s totally alone and that we all gave up on him. What kind of effect does that have on a man’s psychology?” He turned back to Venkat. “I wonder what he’s thinking right now.”

LOG ENTRY: SOL 61 How come Aquaman can control whales? They’re mammals! Makes no sense.”
      -The Martian by Andy Weir
I thought this quote was really funny!

      Teaser Tuesday! (#1)

      Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

      ~Grab your current read
      ~Open to a random page
~Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on the page
~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! ( make sure that what you share doesn't give away too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

~Share the title & author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

Im currently reading The Martian by Andy Weir! Im loving this book so much so far so I will share a teaser from there!

"I know you're upset," Teddy said calmly, "We'll make it right. Just as soon as we have some idea how to save Watney." pg. 85 (The Martian by Andy Weir)

I totally recommend this book to everyone! Its amazing and I love it so far!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (#1)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week...and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well...you never know where that next "must read" book will come from!

Im excited to start this weekly meme!

Last week I finished The Secret Life Of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd! I had to read this book for school but it was a lot better than I had expected it to be! I had expected it to be super boring because The Secret Life of Bees is not a book I would normally read but I really liked it!

      Synopsis:
Set in South Carolina in 1964, The Secret Life of Bees tells the story of Lily Owens, whose life has been shaped around the blurred memory of the afternoon her mother was killed. When Lily's fierce-hearted black "stand-in mother," Rosaleen, insults three of the deepest racists in town, Lily decides to spring them both free. They escape to Tiburon, South Carolina--a town that holds the secret to her mother's past. Taken in by an eccentric trio of black beekeeping sisters, Lily is introduced to their mesmerizing world of bees and honey, and the Black Madonna. This is a remarkable novel about divine female power, a story women will share and pass on to their daughters for years to come.

Right now Im currently reading The Martian by Andy Weir!
Im so glad I picked up this book because it seems super interesting! Im only 20 pages in but its really good so far!

      Synopsis:
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him & forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded & completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—& even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment or plain-old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—& a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

Im also currently reading, Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. I know a lot of people disliked this book and the whole series in general but a friend recommended it to me and I love it so far! So thank you Madison (www.bookreviewsbymadi.blogspot.com) for recommending the book to me!

      Synopsis:
After a Vampire Tracker Marks her with a crescent moon on her forehead, 16-year-old Zoey Redbird enters the House of Night and learns that she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx and has affinities for all five elements: Air, Fire Water, Earth and Spirit. But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school’s most elite club, is mis-using her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny – with a little help from her new vampyre friends (or Nerd Herd, as Aphrodite calls them).

The Dare by Hannah Jayne (Review #12)

      Summary:

Bryn did everything with her best friend Erica. So when someone dared Erica to jump off the pier one night at Harding Beach, Bryn was right by her side. But when Bryn made it back to the surface, Erica was nowhere to be found. Bryn tries to make a fresh start by burying her memories of that awful night. Review:
I really liked this book! The description drew me in and I bought the book. I read it really fast and loved it! It was a great, suspenseful mystery.
What I didn't like was how confusing it was. Nothing made sense till the very end. Sometimes that can lose the readers attention so I really liked that she was constantly doing something. There was always some action involved. There was never a dull moment.
Although, the author focused more on the main characters experiences, and what she went through rather than the characters herself. It was kind of hard to relate to the main character.

      Fictitious Fridays! July 24, 2015 (#1)

'Fictitious Fridays' is a new weekly meme hosted by Aiysha at Mortal Moments!

Each week a specific subject will be chosen for the spotlight for example: favourite fiction book, character, place, food and many more you will have to wait and see!

Fiction of any genre is welcome but I will mainly be focusing on YA Fiction as that is mostly what I read.

The new topic is announced on Fridays but you can post and leave your links throughout the week!

      -

Fiction Spotlight of the Week : Favourite Fictional Celebrity

Wow. Thats a hard one but I would probably have to pick Daemon Black from the LUX Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Is he a fictional celebrity? I haven't finished the series yet! Ive only read the first 2 books but the next book I pick up is going to be the rest of the LUX series!

      Synopsis:
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Thanks for reading! Comment below a link to your friday post and/or your favorite fictional celebrity.

      The Friday 56! (#2)

      The Friday 56

      ~

      The Rules:
      *Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it)
      *Post it.
      *It's that simple.

      ~

Im currently reading Marked by P.C. Cast & Kirstin Cast! I will pull a quote from there!

"I didn't like the idea of being by myself in a place that was full of vampyres and vampyre kids. And now that Neferet was gone the little flickering lights didn't seen so welcoming. They seemed weird, throwing ghostly shadows against the old stone hall."

I think this quote shows just how creepy the House of Night is and it tells what she thinks about the House, that its creepy. I really liked this quote!

Leave a link below to your Friday meme/post and I will check it out! Thanks for reading!

      Feature & Follow (#10)

      How does this work?

The goal is to increase blog followers and make friends. First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you! What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed. All features are chosen randomly to be the feature. They are not chosen by content or name.

What is your favorite movie? – Suggested by A Kernel of Nonsense.
I don't really have a favorite movie! I really loved Insurgent and Divergent though!
